If you’re new in town, you might not know Mei Mei — but you will.
She’s the owner of Mei Mei’s Cookies & Creamery here in River Falls. Unfortunately, last summer was a tough one for her.
After pouring her heart into fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Mei Mei learned that she has breast cancer. Given that she’s a childhood cancer survivor, it’s especially heartbreaking for all of us who know and love her.
Mei Mei is one of the most amazing, caring, and optimistic people in our community. She’s a pillar of the River Falls small business network, dedicating her time and energy to supporting others, especially children battling cancer.
Now, it’s our turn to rally around her.
Mei Mei is determined to keep her shop open for as long as she can while going through treatment. She’s even keeping up with her Saturday shifts to greet us with fresh donuts from Hanisch Bakery (a weekly tradition of mine for almost five years!). But she needs our support now more than ever.
If you feel inclined, please check out her GoFundMe here. It will make a world of difference to her during recovery.
A special shoutout to my wife Hallie and daughter Ainsley, who have stepped up since August to help Mei Mei. Hallie has been running the cash register, making deliveries, and creating ice cream sandwiches (complete with cookie dough discs), and Ainsley has been volunteering on the weekends. I couldn’t be more proud of them for giving so selflessly to someone who greatly deserves some helping hands.
Mei Mei, our family is sending you all the love, prayers, and positive energy as you take this time to heal.
And River Falls, let’s show Mei Mei just how much she means to us this holiday season! Even if donating isn’t on the table, be sure to stop by her shop for the best cookies and ice cream in town. You won’t be sorry.
